Châteauguay police investigate after 4-year-old drowns in backyard pool

Attempts to resuscitate the boy, both on site and at a hospital, failed.

Châteauguay police have opened an investigation after a 4-year-old boy drowned in a backyard pool in a residential section of Beauharnois Thursday evening.

Police said on Friday that first responders received a report of child in cardiac arrest around 8:30 p.m. The child was found in an above-ground pool behind a residence.

Attempts onsite to resuscitate the child failed and he was taken to a local hospital, where he was declared dead.
