Good Morning Britain star reveals surgery update after terrifying intensive care scare

Good Morning Britain star Iain Dale has issued an update after he was rushed to hospital and taken to intensive care.

The broadcaster, who regularly appears on the ITV programme, revealed to followers that surgery is being considered, but they’re currently waiting to see how his treatment goes.

Earlier this week, the 62-year-old explained that he had spent three and a half hours in A&E, with a suspected ‘gall bladder issue’.

‘They’re running tests. Might have to come back tomorrow,’ he said.

In a further update, he thanked those who had sent him supportive messages before shedding light on what happened after he visited A&E ‘with acute pain on the right hand side of my chest’.

‘I am now in intensive care awaiting an operation to remove my gall bladder,’ he said at the time.

‘Not ideal. In fact, it’s a nightmare. NHS care at Tunbridge Wells hospital is so far outstanding.’

The LBC presenter has since given a new update on his condition, telling his followers on X: ‘No sign of gallstones but gallbladder infected and inflamed.’

He continued: ‘Decision on op put off until we see if antibiotics work. Hope to be discharged tomorrow, but won’t be at full capacity for some time, I’m told.

Iain concluded his message by giving a ‘renewed thanks for all the kind comments’ that he had received, ‘and to the wonderful people who have been caring for me’.

Underneath his tweet, the political commentator received more messages from people wishing him well, as well as some looking forward to his return to the radio.

‘Great to hear you’re on the mend. Now get back on my radio,’ Dan wrote.

Ruari added: ‘Ouch! I had my gallbladder removed 35 years ago, because of gallstones. I’ve never known such pain, before or since. Good luck. Have it out!’

Jacqui also shared: ‘Take care Iain, you are more loved and respected than you can possibly imagine x.’

Iain is scheduled to be taking part in a show at Edinburgh Fringe starting from August 3, which is due to feature guests including Ben Shephard, Chris Kamara, Alex Salmond and Jess Phillips.
