The still-new SUV gets some novel seating configurations this model year, and will arrive at dealers later this summer

CX-90 hybrid trims:
- 2025 Mazda CX-90 MHEV GS: $45,900
- 2025 Mazda CX-90 MHEV GS-L (with or without Captain’s Chairs): $50,750
- 2025 Mazda CX-90 MHEV GT (with or without Captain’s Chairs): $55,350

All 2025 CX-90s will have standard i-Activ AWD and seating for up to eight passengers. Also standard are new 19-inch silver-metallic-finish aluminum alloy wheels and roof rails, LED daytime running lamps, LED taillights, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Standard i-Activsense safety features include adaptive cruise control, pedestrian detection (front), blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, and more.
The hybrid GS features the e-Skyactiv G 3.3L turbo engine that works with a 48-volt mild-hybrid assist system, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission with standard i-Activ AWD. It produces 280 hp and 332 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid models should get 9.3 L/100 km in combined city and highway driving. The GS gets heated front seats, but you’ll have to bump up to a higher trim if you want wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity. The GS has a maximum towing capacity of 3,500 lbs.
While the GS only offers an eight-passenger seating configuration with bench seats in the second and third row, the GS-L (and higher trims, excluding the Signature and PHEV models) offers second-row Captain’s Chairs for a seven-person seating configuration at the same price. In here, you’ll have access to wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, as well as a wireless phone charger, heated steering wheel, and a power sunroof. The GS-L has a maximum towing capacity of 5,000 lbs when equipped properly.
For roughly $10k more than the base trim, the GT gets the larger 12.3-inch infotainment display, as well as Bose premium audio with 12 speakers, a head-up display, and enhanced interior LED illuminations. Safety features will also include a 360-degree-view monitor, front and rear parking sensors, traffic-sign recognition, and more.
Another bump up in price gets you the GT-P with the 3.3L inline-six turbo that gets 340 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque — when using premium fuel — hiking fuel consumption up to an average of 9.5 L/100 km. It also adds leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, and more. The top Signature trim is offered as a six-passenger vehicle and features Maple wood accents throughout, in addition to ventilation in the second-row seats.
The PHEV trims get the 2.5L four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and 17.8-kWh battery, producing 323 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque with premium fuel. The EV mode allows for up to 42 kilometres of all-electric range.
