Jax Taylor has decided to seek “in-patient treatment” as he struggles with his mental health amid his split from Brittany Cartwright.
The “Valley” star’s rep confirmed the news to Page Six on Tuesday, telling us, “Jax has always been candid about his mental health struggles, especially during the past few months on his podcast.
“He has made the decision to seek in-patient treatment. This is a particularly sensitive time for him and his family. They ask for privacy and respect until he is ready to speak more on this matter.”
TMZ was the first to report the news.
Taylor’s decision to seek help comes months after he and Cartwright went their separate ways following four years of marriage.
The “Vanderpump Rules” alum said on the June 7 episode of his and Cartwright’s podcast, “When Reality Hits with Jax and Brittany,” that he was specifically seeking help for his temper while also working on their relationship.
“I met a doctor at my bar and she’s absolutely amazing. And I went in there and I literally just broke down,” he explained.
“I’m like, ‘This is what’s wrong with me and this is what I’m doing, and this is who l’m attacking, and I have serious, serious anger issues, and I have a child and I don’t want him to see me act like that.’”
While the pair confirmed they were still separated, they said they were trying to “exhaust everything else” before they split for good.
Taylor, 45, detailed, “We’re trying to live separately, we’re trying to possibly date other people, [and] we’re trying to, you know, figure out what works for us.”
Before he confirmed he was seeking professional counseling, the Jax’s Studio City owner told Entertainment Tonight in April he was “definitely working” on himself. He did not divulge further details.
He also told E! News he felt he was “on the right track” to winning Cartwright, 35, back.
“I was going through a lot of personal issues with myself and my mental health that needed a time out,” he noted.
When Cartwright announced their breakup in February, she noted she decided to move into another home for the sake of her own mental health.
She said at the time that her main focus was “being the best mom” to her and Taylor’s 3-year-old son Cruz.
The pair welcomed Cruz in 2021 after tying the knot in Cartwright’s home state of Kentucky in 2019.
