PHILADELPHIA — Gerrit Cole was scratched from his start Tuesday against the Phillies with what the team termed as general body fatigue.
Rookie Will Warren will start in Cole’s place.
Cole missed much of the first half of the season with elbow inflammation and has yet to return to the form he showed during his Cy Young season a year ago.
The Yankees were already in the market to add a starter to the rotation at Tuesday’s 6 pm trade deadline even before the Cole scratch.
