Aaron Rodgers fumes at Jets teammates as offense struggles at training camp

Observations from Jets training camp on Monday:

The good

Rookie Braelon Allen looked every bit like a physical 235-pound running back as he stiff-armed one would-be tackler and knocked down another for a big gain. But he flashed some speed, too, when he broke up the middle for a big gain. He could be the perfect runner to spell three-down starter Breece Hall.

The bad

The offensive line had plenty of trouble blocking for both Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor on the first day in full pads. Rodgers was “sacked” on back-to-back snaps during one possession and later one more time in the red zone during a stalled move-the-ball drill. A defense-dominated practice fittingly ended with Tanzel Smart “sacking” Tyrod Taylor.

Caught my eye

Do the Jets have a snapping problem? Center Joe Tippman sent a handful of snaps flying too high in Rodgers’ direction, which threw off the timing of plays. “He’s got to work on it,” head coach Robert Saleh said. “There’s clearly something going on.”

Rodgers report

Rodgers was angry with teammates — barking and emphatically gesturing — as the offense struggled. TE Tyler Conklin chalked it up to the quarterback holding everyone accountable. Rodgers completed 8-of-13 passes with an interception to Chuck Clark that was a catchable pass off of Allen Lazard’s hands. The ball was on the ground after Rodgers’ foot was stepped on by an offensive lineman and he fell to the ground trying to stretch for a handoff.
