Woman charged with assaulting police officer during child welfare check

A 40-year-old woman is accused of attacking a police officer who was checking on the welfare of a child in a Saskatoon home.

Around 10 p.m., officers helped mobile crisis workers complete a welfare check on a child in a home in the 1800 block of Clarence Avenue South, police said in a news release on Friday.

Officers spoke with the child’s mother, who “was not cooperative with police,” the release stated, adding that she eventually let officers in, but told them the child wasn’t there.

“Mobile crisis workers were able to locate the child and ensure his safety,” the release said.
