Edmonton police lay charges in fatal dog attack on 11-year-old boy

On April 1, police and EMS were called to a home on 11 Avenue SW in Summerside following reports of a dog attack.

Police found the boy suffering severe injuries after he had been “attacked by two large dogs” and attempted “lifesaving measures until paramedics arrived on scene,” police said in a Wednesday news release.

The boy, later identified as Kache Grist of Osoyoos, B.C., died from his injuries.

“The two dogs were seized by animal control peace officers. The dogs belonged to a roommate of the boy’s father, whom the boy was visiting at the time of the attack,” police said in the release.

Police have charged Crystal Jean MacDonald, 44, with criminal negligence causing death.
