2024-25 Heisman Trophy odds, prediction: College football pick before Week 0

We are almost exactly a month away from Week 0 of the college football season, meaning its time to start lining your betting account with futures investments and tickets.

This is where you want to take some shots and hope that by midseason they are at favorite status or nearing it.

Take a look at our case for Chris Sale to win the NL Cy Young Award at 70/1 for this MLB season. Sale is currently the favorite to win it with +120 odds at BetMGM.

Taking a stab at any award preseason from a betting perspective can be a tiresome study of playing time, usage, health assumptions and game planning.

Sometimes, it comes up roses, but other times you fall flat.

When you hit a long shot, though, it should more than cover your losses.

2024-25 Heisman Trophy winner prediction

There are a few routes we can go here, for starters the odds assume this will be a quarterback as every player in the top 10 is a national title-hopeful signal-caller.

Colorado two-way superstar Travis Hunter is 22/1 on Caesars, the lowest odds of any non-quarterback.

Those odds are absolutely insane, but if you shop around, he’s 60/1 on BetRivers to win the award and that’s a bit more reasonable.

Hunter would need to follow the same path as Champ Bailey, who won the Heisman Trophy for Georgia in 1999: Play both ways and dominate on defense as a shutdown corner and playmaker on offense.

Even 60/1 odds isn’t to get a bite on a team that will hover around .500, but he’d be worth it at 100/1. For reference, he was 250/1 to win going into last season.

For a player I like to win, Kansas State transfer Will Howard, who is 6-foot-4 and has impressive speed and a big arm that Ohio State looks to use well.

Betting on College Football?

Howard has top receiver Emeka Egbuka to throw to, and the Buckeyes’ offense has always been quarterback-stat-friendly.

Howard’s best odds are 16/1 at ESPN BET and a fine wager as we head into the college football regular season.

PICK: Will Howard wins Heisman Trophy (16/1, ESPN BET)
