The incident, which occurred in February, was Montreal’s sixth homicide of the year.
A 35-year-old man appeared at the Montreal courthouse Wednesday afternoon. He had been arrested on April 11 on an accusation of discharging a firearm the night before and had remained detained, police said.
Just after midnight on Feb. 17, Montreal police received reports of gunshots near the intersection of Bellechasse and St-Denis Sts. They discovered a 28-year-old man with serious injuries, who was later declared dead at the scene. Suspects fled before police arrived.
The incident was the city’s sixth homicide of the year.
