Saskatoon police say several bear spray incidents on Monday were not connected

Saskatoon police responded to several bear spray calls on Monday, and into Tuesday. They do not believe the incidents are connected.

“At this time, it is not believed the incidents are connected,” police said in a Tuesday news release.

Around 9:50 a.m. on Monday, officers were called to 19th Street West and Avenue C South, where they found a 24-year-old woman suffering the effects of bear spray, the release stated.

“The victim was unco-operative and did not provide any further information.”

Later, around 3:50 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of Avenue O South. They found a seven-year-old boy who had been assaulted with bear spray. The release said the suspect is not known.

Arriving at the 400 block of Confederation Drive, officers found the suspects had fled and took the victim home. Investigation is ongoing, the release stated.

In the 100 block of 33rd Street West, officers spoke with a victim who chose not to pursue charges.

On Tuesday, around 1:50 a.m., officers responded to an incident in the 100 block of Nelson Road.

When they arrived, they couldn’t find a suspect. The victim was treated by paramedics.

“The victim did not want charges at this time,” the release stated.
