Oscar Mayer Wienermobile rolls over after crashing on highway

Wurst case scenario.

One of Oscar Mayer’s famous hot dog-shaped Wienermobiles crashed and rolled over after it crashed on a suburban Chicago highway Monday morning, police said.

The Wienermobile hit another car just after 11 a.m. when its driver lost control while driving on Interstate 294, Illinois State Police said.

The driver overcorrected while regaining control of the massive hotdog van, causing it to roll onto its side, police said.

Images also showed the Wienermobile’s occupants being helped out from its side.

No one was injured in the crash, which closed the right lane of northbound I-294 for over an hour, according to police.

A spokesperson for the Oscar Mayer brand, which has several of the iconic Wienermobiles, told the Chicago Sun-Times the company is “grateful that everybody involved is safe and there were no injuries.”

“We’re offering ongoing support for our Hotdoggers and we appreciate the support we’ve received from local authorities. Safety on the road is top priority for us,” the spokesperson added. Hotdoggers are the Oscar Mayer employees who drive the Wienermobile.

Video shared online also showed that Wienermobile was later hauled away on a flatbed truck with visible damage on part of its hot dog exterior.
