WestJet announces expanded winter travel schedule

WestJet announced on Monday its winter 2024-25 flight schedule, which includes expanded service to popular sun, transborder and transoceanic destinations.

WestJet Group, which includes WestJet and Sunwing airlines, said in a news release that it will provide “more seats to the sun than any other Canadian airline.” The winter schedule includes 320 non-stop routes to 63 popular destinations in the U.S., Mexico, the Caribbean and Central America.

Leisure growth highlights include offering the most flights to Arizona and Las Vegas, with a 57 per cent and 44 per cent share of seats, respectively, as well as notable capacity increases to Latin Caribbean destinations from Kelowna, Winnipeg, Regina, Victoria, Calgary and Edmonton.

The airline also announced enhancements to its European winter service, offering daily flights from Calgary to London and Paris. These routes were previously offered through the winter, but the frequency to Paris has been increased to match London’s route, and in response to demand for business and leisure travel between Western Canada and Europe.

This expansion will increase WestJet Group’s overall capacity by nine per cent versus 2023.

“As we bring more seats and affordable fares across our entire network, we are giving Canadians choice and flexibility this winter.”

The Calgary-based airline will also grow its domestic flight capacity, with increased service in Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, Edmonton, Kelowna, Vancouver and Calgary. The airline boasts more unique routes between Eastern Canada and Western Canada than any other airline.

This winter, WestJet flyers will also benefit from access to code-share partner Delta Air Lines’ hubs, including Atlanta and Minneapolis. This will provide easier access to more than 100 U.S. destinations via the U.S. carrier’s network. Flights are available from Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg and Vancouver.
