Four homes damaged after two-alarm fire in southeast Calgary

Five people have been displaced after four homes were affected by a Sunday evening house fire in Calgary’s Deer Ridge community.

At approximately 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, fire crews were called to Deer Run Drive SE after multiple calls regarding a housefire. Upon arrival, crews upgraded the call to a second alarm as the fire had already spread to a neighbouring house.

Fire officials said four homes in total were affected by the fire, with five people being displaced. Two of the homes were able to be reoccupied Sunday night, while the other two are temporarily unhabitable due to significant damage.

One woman was assessed at the scene and brought to a hospital for observation. No other injuries were reported.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire, and are asking anyone with photos or videos of the fire, especially prior to the arrival of the fire department, to email them to [email protected].
