Federal Liberals launch website lambasting Poilievre’s achievements as a Conservative MP

Pierre Poilievre “has tried to stop marriage equality, increase the retirement age, bring American-style anti-union laws to Canada, and make life harder for middle-class Canadians,” the LIberals say.

Saying it wanted to mark the 20th anniversary of Official Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre as a Conservative MP, the federal Liberal Party on Monday paid backhanded tribute to their political adversary by launching an interactive website detailing what it described as “20 moments from Pierre Poilievre’s life-long political career.”

“Pierre Poilievre was elected to the House of Commons on June 28, 2004, at the age of 25,” the Liberals wrote in a statement. “Since then, he has tried to stop marriage equality, increase the retirement age, bring American-style anti-union laws to Canada, and make life harder for middle-class Canadians.”

A cursory examination of the site Monday morning found that “Worked to bring American-style anti-union laws to Canada” was in the lead with 969 votes, followed by “Committed to free votes, allowing his MPs to bring forward anti-abortion legislation” with 699 votes and  “Received a government pension at 31, then raised the retirement age on hard-working Canadians” with 590 votes.

The announcement of the website comes as the federal Liberals continue to trail Poilievre’s Conservatives nationwide by as much as 20 points and the party’s political prospects are far from bright.
