The hero firefighter killed during the attempted assassination of GOP Presidential Candidate Donald Trump called out divisive rhetoric by President Biden months ago.
Corey Comperatore slammed Biden on X after the commander in chief branded Trump a “threat” to the nation.
“Trump poses many threats to our country: The right to choose, civil rights, voting rights, and America’s standing in the world,” Biden wrote Dec. 20. on X. “But the greatest threat he poses is to our democracy. If we lose that, we lose everything.”
The former Buffalo Township volunteer fire chief wasn’t having it.
“We’re not stupid people,” married father of two Comperatore, 50, wrote in response to Biden’s post. “Stop talking to us as if we are.”
The assassination attempt prompted Dems to walk back years of violent rhetoric, and happened just days after Biden told donors on a phone call, “We’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bull’s-eye.”
Two other rallygoers were critically injured on July 13 when Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, opened fire on the rally from a nearby roof, barely missing Trump’s head.
Comperatore’s widow, Helen, refused to talk to Biden after shooting, out of respect for her husband, she said.
“He would not have wanted me to talk to him,” she previously told The Post, adding she harbors no “ill will” toward the president.
Hours before the rally, her husband took to social media proudly sharing his plans to attend the event for the Republican candidate.
“So what’s everyone getting into this weekend?” the MAGA X account “Catturd” asked followers that morning.
“Trump rally! Butler, PA,” Comperatore responded, hours before he was fatally shot.
Hundreds gathered at Cabot United Methodist Church on Friday for Comperatore’s funeral.
