Los Angeles cops are investigating what triggered a fight involving a Samurai-style sword that left one woman dead and two hospitalized.
LA County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a residential street in San Dimas Thursday afternoon, where they were waved down by a bloodied woman with cuts on her right leg and hands who was holding a Samurai-style sword, KTLA reported.
The woman seemed to want to show the cops the sword, but she put down the weapon and raised her hands on orders from the deputies at the scene.
Lt. Daniel Vizcarra told reporters that the woman directed them to a nearby home, where police found another woman with bloody slashes, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A third woman was found in the house and taken to the hospital for what police said was a “medical emergency.” KTLA reported that it was a heart attack and that she had been unharmed in the apparent dispute.
The police effort to find out what triggered the deadly attack has been delayed because the women speak only Mandarin Chinese.
“The preliminary investigation suggests that there may be a family connection, but again, because of the language barrier, we have not confirmed that,” Lt. Vizcarra said.
Interpreters were sent to both the home and the hospital, police said.
