Montreal weather: The sun — and the SQ — will be out as construction holiday starts

The Sûreté du Québec will “intensify its interventions” between July 19 and Aug. 4, when up to one-third of Quebecers will be on holiday.

The construction holiday officially starts Sunday, but many people who have the next two weeks off work will be hitting the road Friday afternoon.

The Sûreté du Québec is hitting the road, too, saying that it will “intensify its interventions” between July 19 and Aug. 4, when they say up to one-third of Quebecers will be on holiday.

Wearing a helmet is mandatory on all-terrain vehicles, the SQ says. It is highly recommended that people wear life jackets in boats.

The SQ says it’s counting on citizens’ cooperation so that the vacation is “memorable and safe for everyone. Just because we’re having a good time doesn’t mean we have to stop being careful.”

It’ll be a good weekend to be on the water or on a trail.

On Friday, expect a high of 26 C during the day, with a humidex of 29 and UV index of 7, or high. At night, a low of 18 C. There could be a few showers late on Saturday, which will otherwise be sunny with a high of 27 C. Sunday is similarly lovely, with an expected high of 26 C.
