A recent suspicious death reported in southeast Calgary this past weekend has been determined to be a homicide investigation, and the deceased male’s identity has been released.

Officers were dispatched that day, shortly after 4 p.m., in response to reports of a seriously injured man in the alley behind the 2200 block of 42 Street S.E., in Forest Heights.

Upon arrival, paramedics confirmed the man was deceased.

An autopsy completed Wednesday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified the man as 24-year-old Abdoul Madiou Balde. While originally deemed suspicious, Balde’s death has now been declared a homicide.
