Sean Manaea will get first Mets’ start after All-Star break

Mets officials on Wednesday were still formulating their starting rotation plans to begin the second half, but had settled on Sean Manaea to pitch Friday night against the Marlins.

With Manaea slotted to open the four-game series in Miami, the left-hander will be in position to face the Yankees five days later in the Subway Series finale.

The Mets’ preference is to start two lefties against the Yankees — a tactic they employed in winning both Subway Series games last month at Citi Field.

That would mean using Jose Quintana or David Peterson to pitch Tuesday at Yankee Stadium.

Luis Severino expressed disappointment he didn’t get to face his old team, the Yankees, in the last Subway Series and vowed to get a start for this one.

The right-hander hasn’t been completely eliminated from Subway Series consideration, but it appears far more likely the Mets will deploy two lefties.

Also in play is the possibility Kodai Senga will be slotted into the rotation for the Mets series against the Braves next weekend.

The right-hander has one or two minor league rehab starts remaining before his season debut.

Senga threw a bullpen session on Wednesday, in preparation for his next rehab start — which still hasn’t been officially announced.

Mets officials would like Senga to throw 75-80 pitches in his next rehab start and will then have to decide whether he is ready or needs an additional outing in the minor leagues.

The Mets claimed lefty reliever Alex Young off waivers from the Giants and optioned him to Triple-A Syracuse.

Tyler Jay was designated for assignment.
