Montreal police seize $4.5 million worth of meth, ecstasy and amphetamines

Two men suspected of being linked to a drug distribution network operating in the Villeray area have been arrested.

Montreal police say they’ve seized illegal drugs worth almost $4.5 million and arrested two people suspected of being linked to a drug distribution network operating in the Villeray area.

They say the investigation into the two men, which began last winter, led to series of July 4 raids targeting apartments in the Rosemont, Villeray and Mercier neighbourhoods.

A 30-year-old man was arrested during that operation, during which almost 10,000 amphetamine pills and more than 300 grams of methamphetamine were seized, police say.

His alleged accomplice, 31, was arrested Tuesday during an operation in Mirabel, the SPVM said.

During searches of his home and a warehouse in Mirabel, police say, they found 343,000 ecstasy pills, 10 kilograms of crystal meth and $60,000 in cash, along with small quantities of opiates.

The 31-year-old man appeared in a St-Jérôme court Wednesday and faces several charges related to drug trafficking. He remains detained, police say. His alleged accomplice has been released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
