Kate Garraway’s dad is reported to be in hospital after suffering a suspected stroke and heart attack.

The Good Morning Britain presenter, 57, reportedly rushed off air after the programme on Tuesday to be by her father’s side.

A source has claimed he collapsed at home while staying with her mum and brother in Cornwall, but is now stable in hospital.

Mum-of-two Kate is said to have travelled to be with him in hospital, and missed filming the ITV programme over the rest of the week.

A source told The Sun: ‘Very sadly, Kate’s father collapsed earlier this week while staying, along with her mum and her brother in Cornwall.

‘It was incredibly frightening as he was found unconscious and immediately taken to hospital.

‘Kate rushed to be by his and her mum’s side minutes after GMB finished on air. It seems likely that he’s had a stroke and possibly a heart attack as well – doctors are still doing tests.

‘He remains in hospital and is currently stable but, understandably, it’s given the whole family a terrible scare and they are praying he can recover.’

The insider added: ‘Luckily Kate is due to be off work for a few weeks anyway so she can divide her time between the hospital whilst simultaneously looking after Darcey and Billy.

‘After the horrible, heartbreaking year they have had, it’s so important to Kate that they try and have a normal summer break. It’s a very stressful time for the whole family but as ever Kate is doing her best to look after everyone.’

This comes weeks after Kate spoke about ‘barely holding it together’ following the death of her husband Derek Draper.

Draper died in January aged 56 after a lengthy and difficult three-year battle with complications related to Covid-19.

Sharing updates a few months later amid support from fans, Kate revealed she was at ‘the beginning of grief’ and was facing ‘many ups and downs’ but was doing her best to focus on their two children, Darcey, 18, and Billy, 14.

Speaking at the ASA Foundation’s ball earlier this month, Kate said that she was slowly coming out of her grieving state but revealed that she was ‘barely holding it together’.

As per Closer, the ITV star said: ‘I’m just at that early stage at the moment of coming out of grief. I’m just barely holding it together.’

She added that she is trying to ‘celebrate life’ at the moment and spoke about turning 60 in a few years but is taking it ‘one step at a time’ after Draper’s death.
