CNN’s Van Jones highlights ‘strength vs. weakness’ after Trump survives assassination attempt and Biden contracts COVID

CNN political commentator Van Jones laid out a stark contrast of “strength versus weakness” between Donald Trump surviving an assassination attempt and President Biden contracting COVID-19 on Wednesday.

The former Obama presidential adviser offered a distressing assessment for Democrats, arguing Trump’s quick recovery after being grazed by a bullet during Saturday’s assassination attempt displayed toughness while Biden, 81, was just set back by the virus.

“Strength versus weakness,” Jones said on CNN Wednesday night.

“A bullet couldn’t stop Trump, a virus just stopped Biden.”

Trump, 78, flew to Milwaukee for the start of the Republican National Convention a day after he was shot at by Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday. The gunfire nixed his ear and hit three rallygoers, killing a beloved 50-year-old volunteer firefighter.

Biden revealed Wednesday that he tested positive for COVID as he headed back to his vacation home in Delaware from campaign stops in Las Vegas to recover.

The White House said he is dealing with mild symptoms, and the president, who was not wearing a mask when he disembarked Air Force One after landing late Wednesday night, said he was “doing well,” according to pool reports.

Jones continued to compare the differences between both candidates parties that spells trouble for Democrats.

“You’ve got the nominees for this party getting their butts kissed,” Jones said in reference to Trump and his running mate JD Vance. “Biden’s getting his butt kicked by his own party. The Democrats are coming apart, the Republicans are coming together.”

Jones did concede that there are still a lot of fans of Biden that want him to remain in the race, including “grassroots love” for the 46th president, according to the clip captured by Mediaite.

Jones, who formerly served in the Obama administration, said earlier this month the Democratic Party is in “full-scale panic” behind the scenes about Biden and the pressure mounting for him to leave the race.
