Calgary-shot anthology series Fargo continues to impress, earning 15 Emmy nominations this week,
The top awards were for Best Limited Series, which is up against True Detective: Night Country; best actor in a limited series for Jon Hamm; best actress for Juno Temple; and best supporting actor in a limited series for Lamorne Morris.
The limited series on FX also had nods for outstanding directing for Noah Hawley, cinematography, costumes, writing and sound.
Shot in Calgary in 2023, Season 5 stars Hamm as the violent Bible-thumping Sheriff Roy Tillman as a villain. Temple plays a nice Minnesota housewife in the crosshairs of the sheriff and Joe Keery as the sheriff’s inept but dangerous son/deputy.
The top contender for Emmys this year is FX’s historical Shogun, leading with 25 nominations while The Bear set a comedy series record with 23 nods. True Detective led all limited or anthology series nominees with 19, including best actress for Jodie Foster for playing a police chief investigating deaths in Alaska.
Shogun dominated in drama, giving FX a leading 93 overall nominations, including best drama series, best actress and best actor in a drama series.
Nominations for culinary sensation The Bear included best comedy series and best actor in a comedy series for Jeremy Allen White, along with best actress for Ayo Edebiri.
