Fans of Stranger Things have been left a little frustrated as it was revealed that the creators of the show are launching a new horror series.
Stranger Things was a smash hit when it burst onto screens in 2016, with subsequent seasons released in 2017, 2019, and 2022.
Starring Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Sadie Sink, David Harbour and a whole host of breakout stars, the series is set in the 80s and takes place in the fictional town Hawkins, Indiana.
Focusing on the disappearance of a schoolboy who gets sucked into the Upside Down, a parallel universe filled with monsters, the series has developed over the years and grown its audience who have become obsessed with this complex tale.
Due to the series’ popularity, it might be easy to think fans would be delighted that the creators of this beloved series are creating another show – but this isn’t the case at all.
When it was announced that the Duffer Brothers would be creating a new horror series titled Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen, many were quick to share their frustration.
On Reddit, fans commented that they wish the creators would instead focus on wrapping up Stranger Things before they worked on other projects – due to the long delays between each series.
‘Dear god just finish stranger things already the actors are in college,’ said Discucion99.
‘Can we focus on the current work instead of future projects, already?’ said Rhode_Rage in agreement.
‘Bro the actors are prolly done with college lol. Millie Bobby is married now,’ said Kashpee.
Another fan, QwaQuaD, commented on X: ‘I love these creative geniuses but f**k, as a viewer of their product, waiting multiple yrs between seasons KILLS me. I would lose interest in literally anything else waiting that long lol.’
The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is set to be released in 2025, three years after the fourth season was released in 2022.
The show began with just a one-year gap between seasons one and two, which increased to two years between seasons two and three. Fans waited three years between seasons three and four and will do the same three-year wait between four and five.
As the main cast joined the show almost a decade ago, many are now playing characters who are meant to be much younger than they are in real life.
As highlighted by one commenter, Millie Bobby Brown’s character El was 15 in season four but Milie herself was 18 in this role. As of today in 2024, Millie is 20 and recently tied the knot with Jake Bonjiovi – a far cry from her teen character in the show.
A confirmed release date for Stranger Things season five has yet to be announced and the same can be said for the new project Something Very Bad Is Going To Happen.
