Brossard residences targeted by drug, firearms raids

Longueuil police say the raids are targeting a drug-trafficking network but that guns are routinely seized during such operations.

Longueuil police announced on Wednesday morning they are executing warrants at several residences in Brossard in connection with drug trafficking and illegal firearm possession.

While the primary goal of the raids is to target illegal drugs, a police spokesperson noted that firearms are routinely seized during the course of such operations.

A total of 50 officers executed warrants at three addresses in Brossard and Montreal and as of 9 a.m. three persons had been arrested. The suspects are two men aged 44 and 54 and a 33-year-old woman.

Police also seized two firearms, a crossbow, a quantity of cocaine and some cash.

The result of the raids is expected to be provided later Wednesday, and police said the suspect their final tally will be substantially higher than that announced thus far.

Last week, Longueuil police arrested three suspects in connection with their dismantling of a cocaine trafficking ring. Those raids also saw police seize quantities of cocaine, methamphetamine and cannabis as well as a 9-mm pistol and a collection of high-priced watches, shoes and clothing.
