Public heath said Monday that a passenger on a July 8 Air Transat flight to Montreal from Rome was infected with the contagious disease.
Montreal public health says people in the city may have been exposed to a second contagious case of measles this month.
The regional public heath authority said Monday that a passenger on Air Transat Flight TS403 to Montreal from Rome on July 8 was infected with the disease and would have been contagious.
Officials say people may have also been exposed to the disease:
- in the baggage claim area of the Montreal airport on July 8, between 3:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
- on July 9 at the store Prima Goccia in Montréal-Nord
- on July 9 at the Nour FX currency exchange in St-Michel
- on July 9 at the Super C on de la Concorde Blvd. in Laval
- on July 10 or 12 at the emergency room of the Cité de la santé hospital in Laval
It usually takes between seven and 14 days for symptoms to develop, Montreal public health said in an warning to the public.
Montreal public health said Saturday that a passenger on a connecting flight from Amsterdam that landed in Montreal on July 3 was infected with the disease and would have been contagious.
Measles was declared eliminated in Canada in 1998.
So far this year, 51 cases of the disease have been detected in Quebec, including 23 in Montreal.
The disease was last detected in Montreal in 2019.
