Alex Jones has joked that if her rehearsals for The One Show were ever leaked, she’d be ‘massively cancelled’.

The Welsh presenter, 47, has worked on the BBC programme since 2010, during which she’s presented alongside Matt Baker, Jermaine Jenas, Ronan Keating and Roman Kemp.

Despite being at the helm of a pretty family-friendly show Alex has now said that she must filter herself each night before going on air.

Revealing that rehearsals before cameras started rolling were ‘really bad’, Alex said the thrill of presenting live ‘keeps her alive’.

‘I love live television because it keeps you alive. The danger of doing a job for that long is you become complacent, but the live element keeps it fresh,’ she said during an appearance at Ferne Cotton’s Happy Place Festival at the weekend.

‘Every night is different. People think it’s edited – but none of that. And oh my goodness, I make mistakes. I don’t feel pressure to be perfect, at about five to seven I insert the BBC filter.

‘So before then in rehearsals, it’s really bad, like things I’d be massively cancelled for. At five to seven the filter goes in, and I think because I’ve been there so long, I feel really relaxed. It’s like a home from home.’

Alex added, as reported by the Daily Mail, that the BBC would ‘literally have to push me out’ of the job if they ever wanted to replace her.

Despite Alex’s best efforts, at times she’s faced some live gaffes and blunders that have left both her co-presenters and guests, as well as viewers watching on at home, in fits of laughter.

A few months ago, Dame Prue Leith left Alex gasping and giggling in shock with some fruity language about her husband, retired fashion designer John Playfair.

The Great British Bake Off legend was speaking about her ITV cooking series Prue Leith’s Cotswold Kitchen and how her husband was a surprising natural in front of the camera.

But expressing her annoyance, Prue declared ‘I’m frankly p***ed off about it,’ while Alex and Roman, as well as those working in the studio could be heard gasping.

As the show cut to footage from Dame Prue’s new kitchen-based show, Alex exclaimed: ‘Well Prue Leith, you can’t say that on The One Show! It’s a family show!’

She and Roman could then be heard laughing along with the crew as Dame Prue then hastily apologised.
