One of the biggest British boybands of the 1990s have thrown their hat in the ring to represent the UK at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
A1 – consisting of Ben Adams, Paul Marazzi, Christian Ingebrigtsen, and Mark Read – topped the charts twice with Take On Me and Same Old Brand New You during their heyday.
With nostalgia for the 90s at an all-time high, who could be a better fit to fly the flag for us after Olly Alexander finished in 18th place with 46 points?
‘It would be amazing to represent the UK,’ Ben told Daily Star’s Hot TV column.
‘Eurovision is watched by so many people, and it has been a massive launch pad for so many acts.
‘We’ve got a song on our next album that I think would be flipping perfect for the UK to have. Hopefully, somebody gets in contact.’

Ben previously represented Norway in 2022, secretly disguised in a wolf maskas part of act Subwoolfer. The year, Sam Ryder finished in second place for the UK, beaten by Ukraine but due to the ongoing conflict with Russia, Liverpool hosted the contest in 2023 in partnership with the reigning champions.
Ben said: ‘Fans in the UK are starting to appreciate Eurovision after the success Sam Ryder in 2022.
‘The UK is catching up to the rest of Europe. It has become bigger and bigger. I’ve got the Eurovision bug. I love it.’
Ben’s bandmates are also keen to compete in the Song Contest, which will be held in Switzerland after Nemo became the first non-binary artist to win.
Mark agreed: ‘I would love us to do the contest. To be able to do it would be one of the highlights of our career.’
Norwegian A1 member Christian added: ‘I’ve been saying to the others for a while that Eurovision is a big thing, and we should consider doing it.’
