AOC rips ‘senior Dem’ who predicts Trump will win race after assassination attempt

Lefty New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is blasting a “senior Democrat” in the House who reportedly said Donald Trump will win the 2024 election after being shot.

After Trump’s near-assassination at a Pennsylvania rally Saturday, Axios quoted the anonymous established Democratic representative saying, “We’ve all resigned ourselves to a second Trump presidency.”

Calls have mounted for President Biden, 81, to give up his re-election bid after his disastrous debate against Trump last month, and some pundits say Trump’s resilience after being shot — including him pumping his fist in the air as blood streamed down his face — only served as an even more stark reminder of the differences between the pair.

But Ocasio-Cortez still responded to the Democrat’s prediction by calling on the mystery Congress member to “retire.”

“If you’re a ‘senior Democrat’ that feels this way, you should absolutely retire and make space for true leadership that refuses to resign themselves to fascism,” AOC wrote on X.

“This kind of leadership is functionally useless to the American people. Retire.”

Lone 20-year-old gunman Thomas Crooks shot Trump, 78, during his campaign rally in Butler.

The shooter was positioned on a roof near the rally, and one bullet hit Trump on the upper ear. Another bullet killed a rally attendee, and Secret Service agents took out Crooks.

After the shooting, AOC expressed her best wishes for Trump.

“There is no place for political violence, including the horrific incident we just witnessed in Pennsylvania,” she wrote on X. “It is absolutely unacceptable and must be denounced in the strongest terms. My heart goes out to all the victims and I wish the former President a speedy recovery.”

Trump will be attending the Republican National Convention on Monday and is expected to deliver a message of “unity.”
