Driver, passenger die after their vehicle hits tree near Trois-Rivières

A woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, also a man in his 50s, was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

Two people died Saturday evening after their vehicle collided with a tree in La Visitation-de-Yamaska in Center-du-Québec.

Emergency services were called to Rang St-Joseph southbound around 7:15 p.m. Saturday for a collision involving a vehicle.

“According to initial information, the vehicle with two people on board deviated from its lane and collided with a tree,” said Élizabeth Marquis-Guy, a spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ).

The passenger, a woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, also a man in his 50s, was transported to hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.

A police officer trained in collision investigations went to the scene to shed light on this event.
