Quebec construction companies have less difficulty recruiting labour

The labour shortage has been easing continuously since spring 2022, the CCQ says.

As the job market tightens, far fewer employers in the construction industry are reporting recruitment difficulties, according to the Commission de la construction du Québec.

Only 55 per cent reported having experienced difficulty recruiting labour over the last 12 months in the CCQ’s most recent survey of employers, continuing a downward trend that began in the spring of 2022, when 72 per cent of employers reported difficulties finding workers.

The CCQ conducts consultations twice a year. This time, 1,198 industry employers responded to the consultation, conducted from May 21 to June 4.

“Recruitment difficulties have been significantly reduced,” concludes the CCQ.

One in five employers said they had not had any recruitment difficulties over the last 12 months, up from eight per cent in spring 2022.
