Ontario man charged with sexual assaulting child at Richmond Hill church

On June 6, a victim reported that they were sexually assaulted multiple times by the accused when they were 12 years old

A 44-year-old man has been charged with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference of a person under the age of 16 years old, York Regional Police say.

The man, from East Gwillimbury, which is part of the Greater Toronto Area, was identified by police as Jansen Ng.

The suspect allegedly sexually assaulted the victim multiple times when they were 12 years old at a church in Richmond Hill, police said. The assaults occurred on multiple occasions in 2016 and 2017. The victim reported the assaults on June 6, 2024.

Ng was charged on June 16.

“The suspect had repeatedly touched the victim for a sexual purpose,” police said in a news release.

Police believe there may be other victims. Victims and anyone with information should contact the York Regional Police #2 District Criminal Investigations Bureau.

There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence, police said.

Ng was recently profiled in National Post as part of his efforts to rejoin the army.
