In Canada, the following models are recalled:
- 2004-2015 BMW X3
- 2005 BMW 1 Series
- 2006-2012 BMW 3 Series
- 2016 BMW X5
In the affected vehicles, if the airbag is exposed to high temperatures and high humidity, it can degrade over the years. If this happens, in the event of a crash, the airbag can deploy more forcefully that it should, which could potentially injure the driver or other occupants.
