Man in hospital after early morning shooting in Montreal North

Montreal police said the victim is expected to recover from his injuries.

A 35-year-old man was in hospital Tuesday morning after being shot at least once in Montreal North.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. on Rolland Blvd. near Pierre St. Calls to 911 said the victim had been stabbed, but first responders found the man sprawled in the middle of Rolland Blvd. suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body.

According to witnesses, the man was attacked by a single assailant who then fled.

Police said the victim is expected to recover from his injuries.

A crime scene perimeter has been set up at the site of the shooting and a canine unit deployed in an effort to search for clues. A shell casing has been recovered and police said they expect to interview more witnesses.
