Who: Owen Riegling, Nashville North, 10 p.m.
An artist so earnest it seems as if mainstream country radio made him up. Owen Riegling hails from Mildmay, Ont., a town of 1,200 people full of farmers and blue-collar workers and, no doubt, small-town Saturday nights that mainstream country artists such as Riegling love to write about. His sophomore four-song EP, Bruce County, came out just over a month ago.
Who: TOBi, Coca-Cola Stage, 7 p.m.
This Nigerian-born rapper moved to the Toronto suburbs as a child, where he eventually began engaging in rap battles as a teenager. Fast-forward a few years and TOBi is now a Juno-winning, Polaris-shortlisted hip-hop artist who had a song appear on HBO’s Insecure in 2019. He picked up the Juno win for Elements Vol. 1, named Rap Recording of the Year in 2021 and again in 2023 for Shall I Continue?
