Biden debate debacle leaves impersonators in limbo: ‘That joke is gone’

It’s not easy being Joe Biden — just ask his impersonators.

The president’s diminished state has mimics wondering where to take the character following last week’s devastating debate, with one even telling The Post he’s poised to pull the plug on his Biden.

“I’ve let it go for the minute until I find out what the election is going to do and whether Joe is even going to be in it,” said London-based impersonator Terence Doyle, who has been performing as the president for two years.

FOX News contributor Tom Shillue, who impersonates Biden send-up for Fox News’ late night ratings king “Gutfeld!,” said his impersonation started as a “higher energy” Joe and evolved into some “old man humor, but it wasn’t a cognitively deficient Joe Biden. instagram/tomshillue

Biden impersonator Phillip Wilburn caught flack from one dissatisfied Cameo customer for not incorporating the president’s past missteps cameo/phillipjoebiden

“It’s a hard sell. It [being Biden] hasn’t proved as popular as I hoped.,” he added.

A week after Biden’s debate disaster, Doyle had a July 4 gig at a corporate golf tournament mysteriously fall through.

“It’s a company event, so they have to avoid offending their staff,” added Doyle, who once made as much as $1,000 a performance and doesn’t have any upcoming events in the pipeline.

Shillue, no Biden fan, said doing the president “was definitely more fun when Democrats were in denial about it [him being diminished].” instagram/tomshillue

FOX News contributor Tom Shillue, who does a wicked Biden send-up for Fox News’ “Gutfeld!” said it was more fun to do his impersonation “when Democrats were in denial.”

“Now that everybody sees it, that joke is gone.”

Added Shillue: “I think I’m in the same position as Joe Biden right now. I’m kind of like, ‘Uh oh, what do I do now?”

The real Joe Biden. Dot Findlater, who runs celeb lookalike company Mirror Images, said her Biden impersonator doesn’t get as many jobs as her Trump lookalike, because Trump “is such a character.” AP

But some apparently want to see Biden done warts and all.

“Impression sucked, he did absolutely no stumbling around, no hair sniffing, no bumbling phrases, no handshakes to nobody, absolutely nothing edgy about it. I’m super disappointed,” wrote Tim Salvatore in his one-star review of Phillip Wilburn, who charges $85 on Cameo making videos as Biden.
