Saskatoon police charge man with harassment, threats against women after “hate crimes investigation”

Police say the 26-year-old is accused of harassing and threatening women in Caswell Hill over a period of more than three years.

Saskatoon police have released few details about the allegations against a 26-year-old man facing multiple charges of harassing and threatening women in the city’s Caswell Hill neighbourhood over a period of more than three years.

The man’s name was not included.

“Police reports were made regarding the separate incidents; however, each time the male suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival. The victims were later made aware of the suspect’s behaviour through social media posts,” the release stated.

“As a result, the 26-year-old male has been charged with disturbing the peace, criminal harassment, and uttering threats to cause bodily harm.”

The release did not say whether he has appeared in court, or whether he remains in custody.

It did not say how many incidents were reported, or how many women filed complaints.

“If this has happened to you or somebody you know, the Saskatoon Police is asking you to file a report … at our station, online or (by) calling our non-emergency line 1-306-975-8300. Reporting assists the SPS in analyzing crime and allocates resources where they’re most effective.”
