Arrest made in southeast Calgary hotel slaying

City police have charged a man with second-degree murder in a slaying at a southeast Calgary hotel.

With the assistance of RCMP, Calgary police say they arrested Ahmed Abdi Hassan in Red Deer for the death of 29-year-old Liban Abdirahman.

Following reports of a shooting March 25, police were called to a Super 8 by Wyndham hotel in the 0-100 block of Shawville Road S.E. for reports of a shooting, where they found a man inside one of the rooms suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was declared deceased at the scene.

Hassan, 29, is now in Calgary and has been remanded in custody.

His next court appearance is July 11.
