Daniel Jacob returns to Laval Rocket as assistant coach

The team announced the hiring while its head coach position remains vacant.

It’s not every day that a professional club announces the hiring of an assistant coach before its head coach. But on Wednesday, the Laval Rocket announced Daniel Jacob is returning as an assistant coach with the team.

Jacob held the same functions behind the Rocket bench for three seasons, between 2018 and 2021.

Prior to joining the Rocket, Jacob served as an assistant coach for the Syracuse Crunch and San Diego Gulls in the American Hockey League (AHL).

The 43-year-old was also an assistant coach of the QMJHL’s Blainville-Boisbriand Armada for four seasons.

Jacob has a degree in kinesiology from McGill University. He also served as director of the hockey school at his alma mater for four years.
