Two charged in Saskatoon after assault involving bear spray over the long weekend

A 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy are charged in connection with a weekend assault involving the use of bear spray.

City police arrested two people on Saturday night in connection with an assault in the downtown area.

They quickly located the suspects, but both fled on foot.

After a short chase, one suspect was arrested without further incident. Officers searched him and found bear spray.

The second suspect began to fight the officers, who used a taser on him before they were able to arrest him, police said.
