It’s almost time again for one of the most popular annual events in Saskatoon. Here are five things to know about the 37th annual SaskTel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival, which kicks off Thursday and continues for 10 days and nights …

1 — Big names highlight final evening

Two renowned artists are the main attractions on July 13, the closing night of this year’s festival.

Melissa Etheridge (9 p.m.) is a two-time Grammy Award winner and one-time Academy Award winner best known for hits such as Come to My Window, I Want To Come Over, I’m the Only One and If I Wanted To.

Jewel (7 p.m.) is still fondly remembered for hit songs You Were Meant for Me and Foolish Games off her 1995 album Pieces of Me that became one of the highest-selling debuts in history. In the years since, Jewel has seen success in the dance-pop and country genres.

Among the other ticketed headliners on the main stage are Shakey Grass (9 p.m.) on July 10; Johnny Reid (9 p.m.) on July 11; and Arturo Sandoval (9 p.m.) on July 12.

“Our ticketed program is going to be amazing this year. We’ve got such incredible talent lined up,” executive director Shannon Josdal said.
