Dairy co-op Agropur hit by ‘limited’ cyberattack

The incident occurred recently and did not affect transactional systems, a spokesperson said.

Agropur says it was the victim of a cyberattack that had a “limited” impact on part of its shared online directory.

The incident occurred recently and did not affect transactional systems, the dairy processor said Tuesday.

“The continuity of our operations has not been affected. We confirm that certain Agropur employees and business partners were affected by the incident,” spokesperson Guillaume Bérubé said in an email.

Those affected have been notified and “steps have been taken to mitigate the impact of the incident and strengthen data protection.”

Agropur launched an investigation to assess the nature and scope of the problem. The company says it works with external cybersecurity experts and is in contact with law enforcement.

Bérubé said he would not provide additional comments for the moment so as to “not harm the investigation.”

Agropur groups together 3,000 producers and is among the 20 largest dairy processing companies in the world. In 2023, it had revenues of $8.2 billion.
