Lisa Wilson is elated for son Zach Wilson and her future daughter-in-law.
Taking to her Instagram Stories on Sunday, the mother of the Broncos quarterback celebrated his engagement to girlfriend Nicolette Dellanno, which took place during the couple’s recent trip to Italy.
“Love this beauty with All my [heart] couldn’t have hand picked a better partner for my son. Congrats @nicolettedellanno and @zachwilson,” Lisa wrote alongside a photo of the newly engaged Wilson and Dellanno.
Dellanno, a New Jersey-based model, revealed her engagement to Wilson on Sunday.
“Zach, you are the best thing that has ever happened to me. Everyday I admire your strength and i’m so incredibly proud of you. I’m so in love with you and can’t wait to spend the rest of our lives together 🤍 i love you,” she wrote on Instagram.
In the post, which was geotagged from Amalfi, Italy, Dellanno is seen posing with her stunning oval-cut engagement ring.
Wilson and Dellanno were first linked in 2022 when they took in a Yankees game together in the Bronx.
It’s been quite the offseason for Wilson, 24, who recently wrapped his first minicamp as a member of the Broncos.
The second overall pick by the Jets in 2021, Wilson was traded to Denver in April following three disappointing seasons in New York.
“Obviously, there’s bittersweet moments in everything,” Wilson said in May. “I was grateful for my experiences there and the guys. I miss the guys out there and everything too. But at the same time, a fresh start is good. I’m excited to attack a new challenge.”
He’s now one of three quarterbacks on the Broncos’ roster, including veteran Jarrett Stidham, who started the season’s final two games, and rookie Bo Nix, selected 12th out of Oregon in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Although Wilson had a rocky showing at organized team activities [OTAs] in early June, it was later reported he’s “in the mix” to potentially become the Broncos’ starter.
“They’re trying to regain [Wilson’s] confidence again,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said, according to Bleacher Report. “I’m told he’s in a positive state of mind.”
Through 34 games, Wilson threw for 6,293 yards, 23 touchdowns and 25 interceptions.
The Broncos open the season at Seattle on Sept. 8. They’ll travel to MetLife Stadium on Sept. 29 for a clash against Wilson’s former Jets team.
