Brandon Aiyuk, still a San Francisco 49er, has named two teams he may join if he’s traded.
A lot has been made of Aiyuk’s potential separation from the 49ers in an era where wide receivers are getting large contracts around the NFL.
Aiyuk hasn’t and is entitled to a $14 million team option this upcoming season, the last year of his rookie scale contract signed after the 49ers drafted him No. 25 overall in 2020 out of Arizona State.
As a result of his non-extension, with training camp quietly looming closer, he’s been in trade rumors, and recently, he’s even gone as far as to name his potential destinations in the event he were to move, which he did in an appearance on The Pivot Podcast.
But first, he acknowledged that he’ll probably remain in San Francisco for now.
“If I were to take a guess, probably a Niners uniform,” Aiyuk admitted when asked what jersey he’ll be wearing this upcoming season. “Probably a Niners uniform, but if not a Niners uniform, probably a Washington Commander uniform. If not a Washington Commanders uniform, then probably a Steelers uniform.”
Aiyuk and the Steelers have been linked at other points this offseason, with the star wideout publicly tweeting at Mike Tomlin in March.
Aiyuk caught 75 passes for 1,342 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last season and earned second-team All-Pro honors.
That followed his breakout 2022 season in which he caught 78 passes for 1,015 yards and eight touchdowns.
He had three catches for 49 yards in the 49ers’ Super Bowl loss to the Chiefs.
