Roughriders return to practice without QB Trevor Harris

Harris injured his left knee in Saskatchewan’s Week 3 game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats

The news doesn’t appear to be good for Trevor Harris.

After the workout, head coach Corey Mace will provide an update on the injured pivot, who missed the final 13 games last season with a tibial plateau fracture in his right knee.

Harris came out to spectate a portion of Sunday’s practice with a large brace on his left knee.

If Harris misses an extended period of time, Shea Patterson will assume starting quarterback duties for the Green and White, who are set to host the Toronto Argonauts on Thursday night at Mosaic Stadium (7 p.m., TSN).

While rookie Jack Coan would move from third-stringer to backup, the Riders also signed American quarterback Eric Barriere, who recently attending training camp with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

The 26-year-old previously worked out for the NFL’s Denver Broncos in 2022 following a college career at Eastern Washington, where he was named the Walter Payton Award winner as the top player in the NCAA’s FCS in 2021.

The 6-foot, 207-pound Barriere also had stints with the USFL’s Michigan Panthers (2022) and New Jersey Generals (2023).
