A suspect has been arrested and could face charges of dangerous driving causing death.
A pedestrian in his 70s died early Sunday in Brossard after being struck by a vehicle driven by a man in his 20s, according to the Service de police de l’agglomération de Longueuil (SPAL).
The event took place at 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Du Quartier Boulevard and Lancaster Street in the South Shore community, the SPAL posted on its Facebook page.
A suspect has been arrested and could face charges of dangerous driving causing death, the SPAL said.
A security perimeter has been erected and experts in collision reconstitution and investigators were expected at the scene to determine the causes and circumstances of the event.
The section of Du Quartier Boulevard between des Prairies Road and Lancaster Street is closed and police have advised the public to avoid the area.
