One person dead after multi-vehicle collision on Highway 15 in Montreal early Sunday

Another person has been transported to hospital, although his life is not in danger, police said.

One person has died in a multi-vehicle collision that took place early Sunday morning on Highway 15 southbound at the ramp leading to the Ville-Marie Expressway eastbound (Route 136).

The death was declared at the scene, according to a Sûreté du Québec (SQ) spokesperson. Another person has been transported to hospital, although his life is not in danger, the spokesperson said.

Emergency services were called to the scene at the Turcot interchange at about 6 a.m.

The SQ’s Major Crime Division is investigating the causes and circumstances of the collision and several witnesses are to be met.

According to initial information from the SQ, it is possible a motorist involved in the collision left the scene.

The ramp leading to the Ville-Marie Expressway in the eastbound direction will remain closed “for an indefinite period,” said SQ spokesperson Adam Marineau.
