Just one week after being arrested for a DWI in Long Island, Justin Timberlakereturned to New York for two shows at Madison Square Garden but did not address the elephant in the room this time around.

Appearing bright-eyed and carefree, the star, 43, continued his Forget Tomorrow world tour and told fans: ‘We came to have a good time tonight, New York City!’

Maintaining a high spirit throughout the show, the 10-time Grammy winner’s crowd seemingly matched his energy, with many outlets reporting supportive fans, could be heard chanting ‘we forgive you, Justin’ and ‘everyone makes mistakes’.

Others wore T-shirts with his mugshot on them and the words ‘I’m bringing Tipsy back’.

Unlike Timberlake’s Chicago show on Friday, where the Cry Me A River singer addressed his arrest and thanked fans for their support, he did not address his legal woes at his New York concert.

On Friday, he had told his thousands of fans at his gig: ‘I know I’m hard to love sometimes but you keep loving me right back.’

Instead, he focused on the city itself and members of the crowd, including filmmaker Martin Scorsese, who was reportedly in the audience.

Timberlake also gave the city a shout-out, asking fans: ‘Can I ask y’all a question? I wanna get your opinion on something. Is this the greatest f*****g city in the world? I think it’s the greatest city in the world.’

His return to the stage came after the SexyBack singer was pulled over in the early hours of June 18 for failing to maintain his lane of travel and pausing at a stop sign in Sag Harbor.

Following an exchange with police, he was taken into custody for allegedly driving while intoxicated and was released without bail over one count of driving while intoxicated, with the force later circulating his mugshot.

It was claimed that the officer who arrested Timberlake had no idea who he was at the time because he was ‘so young’.

According to , he ‘didn’t recognise’ the Trolls star ‘or his name’.

A source told the outlet: ‘Justin said under his breath, “This is going to ruin the tour.” The cop replied, “What tour?” Justin said, “The world tour”.’

claimed police stated he had ‘bloodshot and glassy’ eyes, with the  further reporting Timberlake was asked to take a sobriety test, including a chemical breathalyzer analysis.

When asked to do so, he allegedly responded: ‘No, I’m not doing a chemical test. I refuse. I refuse.’

Other outlets have claimed there was a smell of alcohol on his breath and he failed a sobriety test when asked to do a one-legged stand, walk, and turn.

The Social Network actor is due to appear in court on July 26.

Despite the singer’s brief comment at his Chicago show, he has yet to make a formal statement. However, a member of his legal team shared a statement with Metro.co.uklast week.

‘I look forward to vigorously defending Mr Timberlake on these allegations,’ Edward Burke Jr said.

‘I will have a lot to say at the appropriate time but am currently awaiting full discovery from the District Attorney’s office.’
