Edmonton gets free pizza if Oilers win Stanley Cup

What’s the one thing that can make Edmonton winning a Stanley Cup just a little better?

How about 30,000 free pizzas?

If the Oilers beat the Florida Panthers in Game 7 on Monday and hoist the Stanley Cup, this city is going to need two sets of napkins — one for the tears of joy and the other for the pies.

That’s right. If the Oilers end Canada’s 30-year Stanley Cup drought, Boston Pizza is giving away 30,000 free pizzas on parade day.

“If Edmonton brings home the win on Monday we’re going to co-ordinate the biggest delivery of pizzas in Oil Country history,” said Boston Pizza director of marketing, Niels van Oyen. “We’re also going to deliver to other markets that have rallied behind the Oilers, but the big focus will be on Edmonton, given the historic nature of what’s happening there.”

Fans can head down to the Boston Pizza in Ice District and grab a 10-inch pizza with any toppings there, while supplies last, while the company plans to “make it rain” pizza coupons during a Stanley Cup parade.

“We have a fun plan to deliver them in Edmonton in a special way. We’re betting on Edmonton and doing it the best way we know how — with 30,000 free pizzas.”
